For the movie, several Fury Road crew members made a comeback. Quaden Bayles was announced to play a minor role, and Alyla Browne was cast as a young Furiosa.

Principal photography for the film will begin on June 1, 2022, after second unit filming wrapped up in Australia in May of the same year. The production broke the record for the most money spent on a film in Australia and was given a sizable incentive to film. Chris Hemsworth stated that supporting artists included former inmates. The last day of filming was October 2022. Anya Taylor-Joy called the filming process difficult and solitary even after it was finished.

It was revealed in March 2024 that Lachy Hulme, who replaced Hugh Keays-Byrne, who died in 2020, will portray a younger Immortan Joe. Along with visual effects companies DNEG, Framestore, Rising , and slatevfx, Fury Road's VFX supervisor Andrew Jackson makes a comeback in the movie.
